Quarterly / Q1

Business Plan and Forecast Review

Which assumptions need to change for the next quarter?

Q1 / Quarterly / Product design

A clear scope.
A useful output.

Compare quarterly performance with the approved business plan and prepare an assumption-change review.

Required inputs

Three closed months, approved budget and business plan, prior forecast, assumption register and reviewer-approved scenarios.

Review output

An assumption-change log and clearly labelled draft scenarios with evidence gaps.

The human decision

Approve which assumptions to revise and which scenarios to investigate.

Dependencies before conclusions

Make the gaps visible.

Upstream

What comes first.

W3 Operating Priorities; M1 Loan Review; M2 Comp Review; M3 Valuation Review; closed-quarter financial pack

Required dependency

What must be accepted.

Three accepted closed months; approved plan; prior forecast; accepted monthly review outputs; assumption register

If an input is missing

What stays open.

Unaccepted inputs remain gaps; scenarios do not overwrite the approved plan.

Required dependency identified; source availability and reviewer acceptance not yet confirmed. Core is separate Consulting; OS contains the data/context foundation.

Separate fictional scenario

Show the evidence.
Bound the conclusion.

This illustration is specific to this workflow. Its properties, ledger figures and assumptions are not joined to the Morning Portfolio Review or other examples.

Illustration

Fictional Q3 NOI is 240,000 against budget 270,000. A proposed occupancy assumption of 94 replaces 95 only in a labelled draft scenario; the approved plan remains 95.

What a reviewer should check

Sum July, August and September on the same basis; version the approved plan and scenarios; do not silently overwrite assumptions.
